Henley Community Library fund-raisers promote old churches, new brands and children’s book ownership

Christmas EventsBetter late than never, here is some news and photos about the events that took place over Christmas 2013.

The Christmas tree festival entry, surrounded by future ©Own Books titles, Henley Christmas Fayre stall with chocolate tombola and music by Penny Stott, and library supporters from Wootton Wawen competing in Quiz 4. Volunteer Hillary Thomas looks pleased with her lucky draw results.

The community turned out in force for Henley’s Christmas market on 8 December and for the 4

th Quiz Night of the year in the Wootton Hall Country Club on the 18th. The chocolate tombola at the Library’s market stall introduced many lucky players to the delights of Henley Chocolate, a delicious, hand-crafted range of chocolates launched this December by Sally Daniel. Six teams turned up in miserable weather on the 18th for a warm welcome at the Wootton Hall Country Club, where the generous winners of the evening, Simone’s Subs and the Ringers and Singers, donated their winnings to the Library and heard about an imaginative book recycling scheme for children, ©Own Books, which launches at Henley Primary School on 10 January.

The Library’s tree—the generous gift of Yew Tree Flowers—with its ornaments donated by library volunteers, supported the St Johns Church organ repair fund while the books the bear and the moose are reading under the tree are among the first donations to ©Own Books
