Our next Library Tour, to Bletchley Park, takes place on 26 September, so please send us your completed Booking Form if you are interested in joining us to support your library and to experience an enjoyable and informative tour of this historic visitor attraction.
A coach will leave from outside the Three Tuns on Henley-in-Arden High Street at 8am to take a group to visit Bletchley Park, leaving Bletchley Park at 4pm for the return trip to Henley. Once Britain’s Best Kept Secret, today Bletchley Park is a heritage site and vibrant tourist attraction. On our visit we will explore some of the iconic WW2 Codebreaking Huts and Blocks and marvel at the astonishing achievements of the Codebreakers whose work is said to have helped shorten the war by two years.
The cost will be £30 to members and £35 to non-members, which includes your return travel by coach and your admission to Bletchley Park, but excluding food and incidental items. There is a cafe on site which offers hot food (available 12.00pm – 3.30pm summer season) and a selection of cold options including salads, and various sandwiches, or a cup of tea and a slice of delicious cake.
Bletchley Park’s Cafe is in the codebreaking hut that housed the wartime Naval Intelligence Section. Hut 4 was built in 1939 and the Naval Section moved there from the Library in early 1940. Decrypted Enigma messages were sent there from Hut 8 to be translated and forwarded to the Naval Intelligence Division at the Admiralty.
Booking forms can be collected at the library, or downloaded from this website by clicking on HCL Bletchley Park Booking Form. Completed booking forms need to be returned to the library before 10 September to ensure you get your place, and need to be accompanied with your payment.
